Clarksville High Lady Wildcats soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Brentwood High school in their season opener at home Tuesday night.

Sophomore forward Janiya Stevens led the charge for the Wildcats finishing with two goals. She said after the game that she’s proud of her team, but knows they need to make some improvements going into next game.

“I think tonight was a pretty good game. I feel like we could’ve done better, but I’m proud of my team. I believe we can improve on our defensive line and not letting people to be able to split through the back….just being able to go forward and get more shots off on goal,” Stevens said.

Brentwood had plenty of missed shots which could have created a totally different outcome.

Jeff Jordan, Clarksville High’s head coach, was satisfied with his team’s performance, but they still have things to improve on.

“I like the result…we weren’t the better team tonight,” Jordan said. “But we played, we finished our opportunities which kept us in the game. But we didn’t play particular well. We’ve got to move the ball. The other team was constantly moving the ball and we were waiting on the ball.”

Clarksville High will hosts Station Camp on Thursday, August 16 at 7:00 PM.
