In our coverage area, it seems like every week has a big rivalry game going on somewhere. But there aren’t any rivalries to ‘rival’ the Battle for the Powder Keg’ taking place down in Ashland City this Friday between Sycamore and Cheatham County Central.

Both teams come into the game with 1-1 records. Both teams beat Hunters Lane for their first win, and both won big, exactly 35 points each.

In the history of the rivalry, no team has ever won three years in a row. Sycamore holds a slim 9-8 victory margin in the series, which started in 2001. But Cheatham has won the last two. Here’s a breakdown of the series:

2017: Cheatham 21, Sycamore 0
