Clarksville Academy senior golf standout Wyatt Samuels signed with Trevecca Nazarene University on November 17, 2017. Samuels led the Cougars with a 5th place finish in the 2017 Division II Class A State Tournament. Samuels, played as the No. 1 Golfer, and recorded a 76.4 average in seven rounds of 18-holes during his senior campaign. His 9-hole match average was an impressive 37.4. In his 14 total events, he finished in the top three an outstanding nine times while winning four of those events. His best round of the year came on Day One of the State Tournament shooting 3-under (69). He was runner-up at the Henry County Patriot Classic (74) and the Division II Middle Region District 2 Tournament (76).
Samuels, a four-year letterman, showed great leadership with his team capturing the 1st District Title in school history and reaching a first-ever State Tournament. The Clarksville Academy golf team tied for third in their first appearance. It was a special year for Samuels on the course, by having his younger brother, Patton, an 8th grader for the Cougars play along side him on the team.
Prior to his senior year on the links, Samuels spent the summer playing on different Junior Tours across Tennessee and the Southeast. He tied for first in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour 54-hole challenge at Greystone by shooting 73-74-73 for a three-day total of 220. Also, a strong finish at the Tennessee PGA Junior championship at Temple Hills by firing a 71-71 for a two-day total of 142 (7th place). In an elite tournament in the Southeast (Sneds Tour Elite), Samuels shot a 78-74 with another top seven finish at the Nashville Golf & Athletic Club.
Off the course, Samuels is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and YoungLife Clarksville, and was selected as a Delegate for the Congressional Leadership Summit hosted by Congressman Marsha Blackburn.
Samuels is the son of Scott and Diana Samuels. He is the grandson of Freddy and Mary Coleman Wyatt, and Ron and Judy Samuels.
