With the exception of the play-in game on Wednesday, the higher seeds have prevailed so far in the District 10AAA softball tournament.

#9 Kenwood defeated #8 West Creek in the Wednesday play-in game in a high scoring affair. 18-17. That earned Kenwood entry into the double-elimination tournament, but meant that they would face top-seed Clarksville High.

In Game 1 today, #2 Springfield beat #7 Northeast 15-1, Brie Osmondy went 3-for-3 with 6 RBI to pace the Yellow Jackets. Emma Osmondy only allowed two hits on the mound, and struck out 9.

In Game 2, #3 Henry County shut out #6 Northwest 10-0. Avery Cox went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI to lead the Lady Patriots. Emily Brown pitched six complete shutout innings, giving up one hit on the mound for Henry County.

In the closest game of the day, Montgomery Central edged Rossview 16-9 in Game 3, thanks to a 5-for-5 day by Kaitlyn Woodruff. She also had 4 RBI and scored 2 runs on the day. Miranda Francis got the complete game, scattering 13 hits and only giving up 3 earned runs.

In Game 4, Clarksville run-ruled Kenwood 16-0 in three innings. Madison Berner was 2-for-3 with a HR and 5 RBI to lead the Lady Cats. Emberly Nichols pitched the three-inning game, allowing 0 hits and striking out 7. No Kenwood batters reached base.

In tomorrow’s elimination games, in Game 7 Northeast will go to Northwest (Game time 5:30 PM); loser’s season ends. The same is true for the loser of Game 8 Kenwood at Rossview, being played at 5:30.

In the winner’s bracket, Game 5 will be Henry County who goes to Springfield for a 4:30 PM game. and Game 6 has Montgomery Central going to Clarksville High for a 5:30 PM game. The winners of those games will not play again until Tuesday. The losers face elimination games on Monday versus the winners of Games 7 and 8.
