After a regular season dominated by Clarksville High, the Lady Cats winning the tournament is a foregone conclusion, right?
Not so fast, my friend.
Clarksville High has won six of the last seven regular season championships, but hasn’t won the tournament since 2016. Could the Lady Cats run out of lives before even making it to the region playoff? That’s why they play the games. Clarksville’s last two outings were two of their closest, and needed some late game hits to fall yesterday at Springfield to escape a district loss.
Nonetheless, on Thursday, Clarksville (35-1, 16-0) will play the winner of Kenwood at West Creek from the “play-in game” on Wednesday. The loser of play-in game is officially out, and the remaining eight teams will play a double elimination tournament, running Thursday (May 2), Friday (May 3), Monday (May 6), Tuesday (May 7) and Wednesday (May 8), concluding with Game 14 at 6:45 on Wednesday, May 8…unless the “winner’s bracket” winner loses, which will force a Game 15 on Thursday, May 9, at 5:30 at the CHS field.
We will post a full bracket once all seeding is determined (there’s a couple of games left and a possibly coin toss or two).
