District 12-AA power Camden shut out Sycamore, 3-0, in the home opener for the Lady War Eagles, as well as the district opener for both teams. Sycamore is 0-1. Camden is 2-0.

For Sycamore, Anna Knack had 12 assists; Ellie Frye had six kills, 13 passes, and one block; Chloe Cook had one ace and 16 digs.
Sycamore’s JV also fell to Camden 2-1, after winning the first set 25-15, but losing 25-20 and 15-13 in the second and third.
For Sycamore’s JV, Kelsie Crawford had nine digs, four kills, and four aces. Gracie Parris had four assists. Abby Waller had seven passes.
“We played better than we’ve played during our pre-season play days,” Sycamore head coach Lea Hunter said of his team’s performance. “We’ve got to improve in several areas to compete with the rest of our district. Blocking, service and making plays on junk and free balls has really got to improve. We also need to get more comfortable in the fast paced games we’re going to see on our schedule. A lot of that will come with more game experience. We will work extra on those areas in practice, because I don’t think we’ll have any easy days in our district schedule.”
Sycamore plays at Creek Wood in another early season district match on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
