Here are your finalists for Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Week 1:
- Daniel Loos, Clarksville Academy—The senior power forward had the following statistics in two games: 38 points (19 PPG), 18 rebounds (9 RPG), 4 assists (2 APG). “Daniel started his senior campaign strong, leading the Cougars in scoring and rebounds in their first two games. Clarksville Academy won one, and lost one, against White House Heritage and Northwest respectively,” his coach Matt Wallace said.
- Ametri Moss, Northwest—The senior point guard had 24 points (win vs. CA), 15 points (loss to Gallatin), 16 points and the go ahead basket to seal the win vs. Trousdale Co. with under 10 seconds to go. “Ametri is the guy we want with the ball in his hands, creating opportunities for him and his teammates to score. He also wants to take tough defensive assignments to stop the best guards of our opponent. Ametri also embodies a young man of good character in the classroom and the community,” his coach Aaron Wallus said.
- Issac Rankhorn, Montgomery Central—The senior shooting guard averaged 18.0 Points and 8.0 Rebounds for MCHS in 2 games this week in a 65-53 victory over Ft. Campbell and a 52-49 loss at Greenbrier even though receiving lots of double teams.
Voting begins now, and runs through 5 PM on Wednesday, November 27. One vote per person please. Voting will be restricted by email and IP address, but honesty in the process is appreciated.
Under our player of the week voting system, 50% of the vote will come from the fans, and 50% will come from an expert panel made up of coaches and media members.
For example, for basketball player of the week, if the total number of fan votes equalled 1250 votes, each of the expert panel members would be given a vote equal to 1/16 of the total fan vote, which comes out to 78.125. The panel for basketball would be made up of the 12 head coaches and the four “Sports Guys” from our podcast; hence the total of 16.
While we will keep secret how each panel member votes, we will disclose the breakdown of the total votes between fans and experts for each candidate, so you will know how the winner was selected.
