Soccer Player of the Week, for week ending September 6
- Felicity Rock, Kenwood High School – The senior goal keeper made eight saves in the Lady Knights match vs Fairview and 13 saves in their match vs Creekwood this week. “She was an absolute force in the goal despite being miserably sick with bronchitis. She continued to fight for every ball, work hard, encourage her teammates and never quit. Even though we lost both matches, she exemplifies the work ethic and positive attitude that I am looking for in my program,” her coach Caitlin Casey said.
- Janai Hosley, Rossview High School – The senior left defensive back “has shown great leadership this week…really focused on positivity and being a positive role model for her younger teammates. She enters each match with an intensity unlike anyone else and it radiated throughout our match and practices this week,” according to her coach, Connie Castleman.
- Cassie Groves, Sycamore High School – The freshman midfield/forward had two assists in the Lady War Eagles’ 9-0 win over West Creek, and two goals in their 6-0 win over McGavock. “Cassie has been a great addition to the Sycamore team. She is aggressive on the ball and can be very disruptive up top. She has great speed and works hard to create scoring opportunities,” her coach Sheila Gaertner said.
- Claudia Shaver, Cheatham County Central High School – The junior defense/midfield had three goals and two assists in two games this week. “Claudia is a great soccer player, not only is she a main defender, but when the team needs her offensively, she is able to step up in big ways. As a junior, she has high expectations for herself and her team, and she works toward those everyday,” her coach Susie Kephart said.
