Here are the finalists for VOLLEYBALL Player of the Week for the week ending August 23 (Games Saturday through Friday).
Each week, the volleyball coaches for the school’s we cover (11 schools) will nominate a player (or players) that they feel is worthy of the award. Some weeks we will pick from a list and narrow it down to three-to-six. This week, we are presenting all four of the players who were nominated.
Please use the ballot shown below. The winner will receive a plaque that will be presented at a practice or pre-game warm-up later this week. We will capture the presentation on video, and it will be posted on our website.
Here are the finalists:
Sydney Weatherford, Clarksville High • In two games, the Lady Cats’ junior middle hitter had 22 kills, 15 assists, six blocks, and five aces as Clarksville High went 2-0 to start the season.
Taitana Rugante, Northeast • The Lady Eagles’ junior middle hitter so far this year has a kill percentage of 43.2 and blocking percentage of .80. “She is a small force to be reckoned with…no one is expecting her to come out and hit the ball but when she does, it is a kill almost every time,” says her coach Samantha Loranty.
Kelsie Crawford, Sycamore • The Lady War Eagles’ sophomore outside hitter had 12 kills, 11 digs, and 36 passes as Sycamore went 0-2 on the week to start the season. “Kelsie is a go getter…she goes all out all the time,” says her coach Lea Hunter.
